JH Engineering, LLC (JHE) completed commissioning, startup, and performance testing of the new Sodium Hypochlorite (SHC) Dilution Pump Station and five replacement 2,000 lb/day SHC generators for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) at the 300 MGD River Mountains Water Treatment Facility (RMWTF). The project also included integrating the new equipment with SNWA’s existing Motor Control Centers, PLC, and RIO systems. The project was located within the existing SHC Generation Building and was commissioned and started up while the existing disinfection system remained in service without any impacts to operations at RMWTF. SNWA’s operations staff was very appreciative of JHE’s efforts and involvement and was quoted as saying, “This is the smoothest startup we’ve had out here.  Everything works, just like it should!”

Jeff Haasch was involved in the original construction of the SHC Generation System on the 300 MGD expansion project, SNWA Contract 082B, including commissioning the four added generators and all other related process equipment (water softening system, mixing pumps, ventilation equipment, etc.).  Both SNWA and MMC, Inc. (the contractor for the original 300 MGD expansion project and for the RMWTF Sodium Hypochlorite System Upgrades) requested JHE perform the commissioning for this Project based on his extensive knowledge of the facility and how smoothly the 300 MGD expansion project was commissioned. The RMWTF Sodium Hypochlorite System Upgrades were constructed in the room adjacent to the room Jeff was responsible for overseeing construction over as the Process Mechanical Project Engineer for MMC from March 2004 to July 2006.  Jeff’s prior involvement at the facility and with the same equipment was a large part of the success in delivering this project.
